Some people seem to find these lists annoying, some people think they are a must do.  I don’t feel strongly either way, but sometimes I have a hard time coming up with something to write about so I thought I would give this a shot.  Plus I like lists.  Bonus!  Here we go, for my 100th post, 100 things about me:

  1. I am a native Texan.
  2. I was born in Houston, although that is about an hour drive from my parents’ home.
  3. I wasn’t born in the car, though, so evidently it wasn’t a problem.
  4. I weighed 9.5 pounds at birth and consequently was by far the largest baby in the NICU.
  5. I had some sort of Rh factor incompatibility (blood type) problem and also jaundice.
  6. My birthday is March 19.
  7. I like being a March baby – my birthday almost always is during Spring Break.
  8. This is still a perk since I work in academia and have that time off.
  9. My favorite color is green and has been since I was a kid.
  10. I think I may have been a tad high-maintenance and shrill as a child.
  11. If my mother and sister read this, they will wholeheartedly agree.
  12. My husband would say that I am still rather high-maintenance.
  13. Although hopefully not quite as shrill.
  14. N and I got married on the two-year anniversary of our first date – June 15, 2001.
  15. It was a Friday evening.
  16. I know of at least two people who missed our wedding because they assumed it was on Saturday.
  17. We went on a cruise for our honeymoon.
  18. I love cruises and have been on several.
  19. Actually, I just love to travel in general.
  20. Particularly if airplanes are involved.
  21. N and I lived in Denver for almost two years, right after we got married.
  22. We left Texas for Colorado on September 11, 2001.
  23. My mom and I were in my car, following my husband in the U-Haul when the towers were hit.
  24. We had no idea because we were listening to CDs, not the radio.
  25. I tend to listen to CDs in the car because radio commercials annoy me.
  26. Also, the motor on my antenna is broken so it makes a horribly embarrassing grinding sound when the radio first comes on.
  27. That is the only thing that bothers me about my beloved 7-year-old Toyota 4Runner, but I am too cheap to have it fixed.
  28. Toyota calls the color Stellar Blue Pearl, everyone else calls it purple.
  29. I find “blurple” to be a little more accurate.
  30. I work in university research administration for a major Texas school.
  31. Very few people understand my job.  Not even my mother.
  32. I like my job a lot, but think I deserve to be paid more for it.
  33. I am quite sure I am not alone in feeling this way about my employment.
  34. As much as I like my job, I don’t think I want to do it forever.
  35. If I could have any job in the world, I would want to own a successful nightclub.
  36. My sister and I have joked about actually doing it, but I am not business-minded enough.
  37. I will probably go back to college eventually to earn my Master’s degree.
  38. I have a BA in Sociology but want to study Psychology in grad school.
  39. I think about grad school a lot, but it is not currently feasible with two small children.
  40. My goal is to start taking classes when Miss T starts kindergarten.
  41. I don’t think that is an unrealistic goal.
  42. I love movies, which should come as a shock to no one.
  43. Consequently, it is really hard for me to pick one favorite movie, as there are several I can watch over and over.
  44. I do have a favorite song, though.
  45. It is “Criminal” by Fiona Apple.
  46. My favorite TV show of all time is MacGyver.
  47. I have all the seasons on DVD.
  48. I also own the first four seasons of Charmed.  After that it jumped the shark.
  49. I love to read magazines, but don’t generally have the patience to sit down with a book.
  50. I don’t like poetry.
  51. Like, AT ALL, so I always dreaded that unit in English class.
  52. I memorized the poem Jabberwocky by Lewis Carroll for my 5th grade English class.
  53. That is probably the one poem in existence that I do not hate with the heat of many hot suns.
  54. I still remember parts of it…”‘Twas brillig, and the slithy toves did gyre and gimble in the wabe…”
  55. I also still remember parts of dance routines from my drill team days.
  56. Sometimes I will do them mentally when one of the songs comes on the radio.
  57. I was on the drill team for 3.5 years in high school.
  58. I was the treasurer for most of my junior year – I was chosen after the original treasurer moved away.
  59. N’s cousin robbed me of the presidency our senior year.  Seriously, I WAS ROBBED.
  60. I know that I won the popular vote by a landslide, and I am pretty sure she didn’t even want to run for office in the first place.
  61. I probably should stop talking about this before I get myself in trouble but obviously I am still bitter, more than 10 years later.
  62. I do actually like my husband’s cousin a lot (and we were even friends at the time), even though it may not sound like it.
  63. And obviously N was not my husband at the time, nor were we even dating.
  64. In fact, if you told me in high school that I would end up marrying him, I would have LAUGHED IN YOUR FACE.
  65. I did hold a drill team office my senior year, although it was not president.
  66. I was the social chairperson.
  67. Yes.  Stop laughing.
  68. I loved everything about being on the drill team.
  69. I still love to dance, and did a jazz and a tap routine in a recital during the first trimester of my pregnancy with Miss T.
  70. I’m hoping that maybe this will have programmed her with rhythm and a love of dance.
  71. I want to get a small tattoo on the inside of my left wrist.
  72. My husband has a rather serious problem with this.
  73. He also has a problem with the fact that I had my bellybutton pierced.
  74. Twice.  (Once in college, then again when AE was a year old and I had my flat tummy back.)
  75. I don’t think I will get it pierced a third time, IF I GET MY TATTOO.
  76. Of all the U.S. cities I have visited, San Francisco has been my favorite so far.
  77. I would move there in a heartbeat if I could afford it.
  78. My favorite alcoholic beverage is a frozen margarita without salt.
  79. My favorite non-alcoholic beverage is coffee.
  80. I only drink water with meals, I don’t like having flavored drinks mess with the taste of my food.
  81. I guess you could say this is a Policy I have.
  82. I also have a Policy about not eating at any point during the night no matter how hungry I am.
  83. I had to suspend that policy during my pregnancy with AE because I was always starving at 3 a.m.
  84. I took 3.5 years of Russian during college.
  85. I retained quite a bit of it and still have a functional ability to read the Cyrillic alphabet.
  86. Originally I was planning to minor in Russian.
  87. I’m not sure why that changed.  Laziness, I guess.
  88. I fear that Miss T is a lot like me – feisty, stubborn and opinionated.
  89. This does not bode well for her teenage years.
  90. I think there were periods while I was a teen that my mother would have happily sent me to boarding school.  Far, far away.
  91. I can’t say I blame her for that.
  92. I get along really well with my parents and sister now, even though I was so difficult as a teenager.
  93. It is nice to have a close-knit family.
  94. I want that for my children too.
  95. There are a lot of things I want for my children, and my greatest fear is that I won’t be able to provide everything for them.
  96. My other great fears are roaches and heights.
  97. I am prone to anxiety attacks when in high places.
  98. I would rather be in close proximity to a poisonous snake than a flying cockroach.  I’m not joking.
  99. I think that overall I am a very confident person.
  100. My life may not have turned out the way I thought it would, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
