DUDE.  Now I TOTALLY remember why I don’t take time off work.  It is always a mess the first day I come back, no matter how long I’ve been gone.  In this case, 4 hours on Friday afternoon = mild to moderate nightmare on Monday.  Bah.

In any case, it was worth it.  N and I had a great time in San Antonio.  I love love love the River Walk, and no matter how many times I go I always have so much fun.  Even when it is blazingly hot outside, which, YES.  And at one point I saw some girl walking around in a sweatshirt!  She must have just arrived from the surface of the sun, because that’s about the only way I can imagine that August in Texas would feel like sweatshirt weather to ANYONE.

We didn’t hit any of the standard spots like the Alamo – we’ve both been multiple times before and honestly I don’t appreciate vacations where I feel like I am on a school trip.  So there.  We DID, however:

Stay in a neat historic hotel – the St. Anthony. It was built in 1909.   Very pretty, and within easy walking distance of the river.

We (and by “we” I mean my husband) took some nice scenic photos:

We also saw pigeons taking advantage of leftovers.

And we discovered a drink called River Water.  Having not actually sampled the San Antonio river I cannot say if the flavor was accurate (probably not unless it tastes like grenadine), but the color was spot on.

We saw The Dark Knight at a fancy-schmancy IMAX theater.

And oh yes, we visited a local tattoo place.  Where I got a tattoo.  That I like very much, although I am not entirely used to it yet.  I keep catching a glimpse out of the corner of my eye and momentarily freaking out about WHAT THE HELL IS THAT ON MY ARM OMG.

See?

So now you know.  Overall a pretty fantastic weekend.

Edited to add:  As for the formatting with those scenery photos, I do not know.  It was fine when I hit publish last night.  Please ignore my technical ineptitude.

Edited again by N: Fixed your formatting, for I am not technically inept.
