Tomorrow we’re going to brave a trip to the Houston Zoo, even in the midst of power outages and downed traffic lights due to Hurricane Ike.  We’ve had it planned for awhile with Tommy’s family.  Since he and AE go to different schools now, we thought it would be a nice way for us all to celebrate their 6th birthdays (Tommy’s is later this month) without having to have big parties involving a whole bunch of barely-known kids from their new kindergarten classes.  Go us!  Avoiding birthday parties for another year at least.

Anyway, we’ll see how it turns out.  The challenge will primarily be getting there due to the aforementioned lack of electricity in that area.  Once we get there it should be fine, even though the zoo itself has no power either which means none of the indoor exhibits are open.  No big deal as far as AE is concerned.  Hey, maybe the whole thing will be kind of like a safari!

So, the saga of Food Stealing Lady continues but in a bizarrely unrelated way.  She hasn’t stolen any food since my boss called her on it, but today it was discovered that she was napping in the conference room.  One of my coworkers went in there to take a call on her cell phone.  The door was shut and the lights off so the coworker flipped on the lights and was in the middle of a conversation when she saw FSL getting up off the floor in the corner of the room.  She had a blanket and everything!

Even funnier (to me, at least) is the fact that no one seems to know what department FSL works for, or what her actual job function is.  What if we have a Milton on our hands?  Maybe she isn’t even technically employed here.  Oh well, if that’s the case eventually someone will find the glitch and the whole thing will just work itself out naturally.  Hee.  (If you have not seen Office Space, you really, really should.)

I saw a fun meme over at Miss Zoot and thought I would let Miss T give it a shot.  Because OF COURSE baby needs a meme!  Especially Little Miss Opinionated-Pants.

1.  Cloth or disposable?  What is this cloth of which you speak?  Are those the things my mom uses to clean my face after I spit up?

2.  Breast or bottle?  Bottle.  I guess Mom doesn’t love me as much as my brother.

3.  Eczema or reflux?  How about gas?  Does that count?  I am a very gassy girl.

4.  Jumparoo or play mat?  I prefer things I can push around as walkers.  Like play tables.

5.  Mommy or Daddy?  Mommy, of course.  Sorry Dad!  Don’t worry, your day is coming.

6.  Sling, front carrier or stroller?  I’ve never been in a sling, but I do like the front carrier Mom puts me in sometimes.  Stroller is good too, but it makes me very drowsy.

7.  Pacifier or thumb?  Always pacifier.  But it must be a specific kind, the Mam Silk Touch Silicone, otherwise I will spit it out at you.

8.  Bumbo seat or bouncy seat?  I’m too big for either of those!  I sit like a big girl now, but I liked them both when I was just a baby.  The bouncy was better, though, because it had my friend the stuffed lion attached to it.

9.  White noise or silence while sleeping?  I listen to lullabies and rainforest sounds when I first go to sleep, and Mommy or Daddy will turn that on again if I start to cry in the night.  Other than that I like it quiet.

10.  Crib, Pack’N’Play, or parents’ bed?  Crib.  Mommy has a “no kids in the bed” rule that she is VERY strict about.  My brother was never allowed to sleep with her either.  One time I heard Daddy say that he is surprised Mommy lets him in there!
