I have not really been reviewing wine lately.  I’m not sure why that is, although honestly reviewing wines is not nearly as much fun as drinking them.  Oh.  Hmm.  Maybe I do know why I’m not writing reviews.

So because I have been continuing to drink wine even though I’ve only written one review since a whole string of them in early March, I have quite a list that I need to get to.  It has been so long I don’t know how well I’ll remember what I thought of some of them so I’ll just do the ones that stood out.  Here I go:

Casal Garcia white wine out of the Vinho Verde region of Portugal.  I bought it because I thought the label was pretty (sucker!) but I thought it was actually quite good!  Light and easy to drink.  I’ll probably buy it again.

This one was an Argentinian chardonnay called Uma.  As you can plainly see.  (Also pictured, my husband’s hand.  Lest you think that I have Man Hands I wanted to clear that up.)  I had it on the plane on the way back from New York last month.  It was pretty good for airplane wine, I must say.  Nice and sweet, and went well with whatever unremarkable airplane food we had.  I do declare it to be worth the $5 I paid for a wee bottle.  So worth it that um, I bought and drank a second one.

Now we have a pink wine out of Sonoma, California.  I think the vineyard name is Red Truck but this wine is called Pink Truck.  Because it is pink, in case that is not clear enough already.  I loved, loved LOVED this wine.  In fact, I bought another bottle of it just today.  It is sweet and fruity and very yummy.  I highly recommend, if you can get your hands on it.  The only place I’ve seen it here is at HEB.  It is worth hunting for, trust me.

And on to another California wine – a chardonnay called Bohemian Highway.  I’ll be honest, I had this one quite a while back so I don’t remember specifics, but I DO remember that I liked it.  Do with that what you will.

Then there was the wine that I had while visiting my sister in Houston a few weeks ago.  I could have taken a picture with my iPhone but I’d already had two largish margaritas with dinner and wasn’t thinking straight.  Which was evidenced by the way Sher and I were attempting to open the wine in the first place.  After the handle of the corkscrew snapped off, we attempted to still use it.  I held the corkscrew in place while she turned the bottle around it.  It worked about as well as you might imagine so we ended up at the grocery store in search of a corkscrew that didn’t suck.  My point here is that by the time we got into the wine, it turned out to be just OK and probably not worth all of the effort that went into opening it.  That is my review:  A wine that I do not remember the name of, of which I have no picture, that took 30 minutes and a trip to the store to open – was just okay.  Now.  Aren’t you glad I’m here to share these things?
