Okay, so I totally went back for the wine goblet.  But then I discovered that it cost fifteen dollars.  I’m sorry to say that my cheapness trumps awesomeness.  Five dollars, okay.  Maybe ten if I were feeling particularly spendy, but I draw the line at fifteen.  Sorry, folks!

Interestingly enough, I was not the only person in search of that particular item at that exact moment.  There was some college-age girl there that happily took it when I decided not to make the purchase.  Apparently she’d been looking for that exact thing.  I do not want to know why.  I’m just hoping it was for reasons similar to my own.

A few days ago when I went to pick up Miss T, I had already changed from my work clothes into jeans and a T-shirt (living 45 seconds from the daycare has numerous advantages).  When I arrived I was greeted by several of the teachers from Miss T’s current and former classrooms, who were all congregated in the hall with the kids.  Since I turn 30 next week (in six days, for those of you keeping track), I was very pleased when they all started exclaiming about how young I looked.  Look at you!  So YOUNG!  Like a COLLEGE STUDENT!!  How old ARE you, anyway?!  So that was nice in light of my death march toward the top of the hill.  In another 10 years I’ll be tumbling down the other side.

Speaking of getting old, I found a BIG FAT GRAY HAIR last weekend.  Fortunately it had the good sense to have evacuated my head already – it must have known that either way it wasn’t long for this world so it chose the less violent end.  I found it attached to the cat’s tail.  But I know it was mine, because it was far too long to be anyone else’s, and I know it was gray because that was abundantly obvious against jet black fur.  I feel I’m being mocked.  If it had fallen to the ground with all the other hair on my bathroom floor, I would never have noticed it.

On Wednesday afternoon my office phone rang.  When I answered I was greeted by Linda, the lead teacher in Miss T’s classroom.  She immediately assured me that Miss T was fine, but did want to let me know that she had been bitten by a classmate.  She’s been bitten before and I wasn’t notified at work, but I guess they wanted to give me advance warning this time.   And I’m glad they did, because sure enough, she had a very pink perfect circle of teeth on her pudgy little cheek .

bitten

See?  Apparently she had been playing with a toy that the biter wanted and when she wouldn’t give it up – CHOMP.  I’m just glad the skin didn’t break.  Because two days later it is still clearly visible!

N has been going back to the office pretty much every night to try and finish up a huge project.  I’ve discovered that I don’t really know what to do with myself when left at home alone after the kids are in bed, and I get very lonely, so last night BB came over and we drank wine (surprise!) and watched Grey’s Anatomy (my first time ever), followed by Far and Away.

It had been a very long time since I had last seen Far and Away, but I remember absolutely adoring it when I was in high school.  (That was before Tom Cruise went nuts, you know.  Back in the day when all teenage girls were in LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE with him.)  So I have seen it several times, but after last night I’m kind of wondering what I found so enchanting.  Maybe some of the romance is gone now that Tom and Nicole are no longer together.  Maybe I don’t have the patience for such a long movie anymore.  Or maybe I am offended by Nicole’s out-of-control hair.  So many possibilities!  But the fact of the matter is that it isn’t as great as I remember.  It has a few great scenes (like the one where Shannon peeks under the bowl that is serving to - ahem - cover Joseph, or the one where she tells off her squirrelly little creep of a boss), but for the most part it is kind of slow.  Either way, a decent movie, provided you don’t watch it more than once about every ten years.  So I’ll be good until at least 2019.

I cannot even convey how excited I am about our upcoming mystery trip.   It is killing me to have to wait!!  I love surprises and so haven’t tried too hard to figure out our destination, but now I am just ready to get this party started already.  I want to GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Have a good weekend, everybody!!
