Um. I’m feeling marginally crabby today due to having to answer an inordinate amount of Very Stupid Questions and deal with an equally large number of Incredibly Asinine Situations at work. Here’s a helpful hint to avoid my wrath: please do not argue with me about the amount of a standard item to be included in your budget. I do actually budget these things on a daily basis and know how much to charge. And if you DO choose to argue with me and insist that I budget your item at a different rate, DO NOT HAVE THE BALLS TO ASK ME IF I KNOW THE EXACT RANDOM ALTERNATE AMOUNT OF SAID ITEM. For instance, if I say we have to budget widgets at $313, do not respond with “well, last time you made an exception [clearly in a moment of weakness] and agreed to budget the widgets at $206, but that might not be the Magical Widget Rate this time around. Do you know this year’s Magical Widget Rate?” Why, YES I DO. It is $313. GRAH.

ANYWAY! Moving on. One of the things about living in the town where you went to college is that there are opportunities for nostalgia around every corner. I went to the on-campus bookstore during lunch today to help a friend try and find a graduation gift. It’s been a while since I was on campus and it always makes me long for the relatively responsibility-free days when I was in school. No kids, no stressful job (my part-time job was fun – driving buses for the university. Yes. I had a commercial driver’s license and everything.), no mortgage, no car payment, and on and on. Also, at that point it was deemed perfectly acceptable for my weekend plans to consist of nothing but going to parties and drinking like a fish. These days my weekends consist of trying to keep two small people occupied while not allowing the house to drown in their clutter. Quite a bit different, but probably a little more worthwhile depending on how you look at it. One definite upside: I don’t ever wake up feeling like I got hit by a truck. Well, not usually. Miss T does have her rough nights.

Somewhat on-the-subject random factoids:

*I did not start out at the Major Texas University that I graduated from. I’m not putting a link because I don’t want to make it too easy to figure out where I live, but here are two hints: I started my college career at this school and I did not go to college with Tessie (although she and my mother have the same alma mater). That should narrow it down quite a bit. And if you have ever visited my husband’s blog it should be abundantly obvious with a few clicks of the mouse, so if you really can’t figure it out (and if you actually CARE) head over there.

*Factoid number one got a little tangential, but where I was heading was that I transferred to Major Texas University to be closer to my boyfriend. The boyfriend that did not become my husband, so we see how well that worked out. On the other hand, after that experience I swore off long-distance relationships so if it weren’t for him, I never would have started dating N in the first place seeing as he was located here and not in the Land of Lubbock.

*I attempted to buy alcohol on my 20th birthday, just to see if I could. That was the best-tasting bottle of Boone’s EVER.

*I really hope my kids take after my husband, a man without a trace of rebellion or troublemaking (or most importantly, idiocy) in his body. I had a great time in college but GOOD GOD am I lucky to be alive. I won’t put details for fear my kids (or worse, my MOTHER) will stumble upon this post someday.
